Brown Bread
2 c. coarse-ground whole wheat flour
1 c. white flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 c. buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400. Grease
and flour baking pan or iron skillet (depending on what shape you prefer).
Sift and mix the flours, then add the rest of the dry ingredients.
Fold in the buttermilk until the dough is very moist. Pour dough
into skillet, or in a pile in center of baking pan.
Smooth into a fairly round shape. Bake for 45 minutes.
